Gold Village is located right next to Route E75 and offers everything a Lapland traveller needs, including restaurant, accommodation and experience services. In Gold Village, for example, you can learn how to wash gold in the summer and take part in daily reindeer or snowmobile safaris in the winter. Tankavaara is famous for its gold panning competitions and everyone has the opportunity to test it on site! At Gold Village you can borrow everything you need, including rubber boots. The guides will guide you through the secrets of gold panning. In summer, the outdoor flushing plant is open every day. In winter, there is an indoor gold panning right next to Restaurant Wanha Waskoolimies.

Eat well in the Wanha Waskoolimies restaurant
The Wanha Waskoolimies restaurant serves you every day of the year, and its menu includes local flavours. The restaurant has a gift shop where you can buy quality jewellery and, of course, pure gold. You can drop into the restaurant for coffee, lunch and dinner. In the evenings the Wild West saloon serves gold miners and other travellers.
Tip! The Wanha Waskoolimies restaurant’s special, the Gold Digger’s Hamburger, is a customer favourite. Try it!
Stay in the heart of gold country
Accommodation for visitors is available both in the Gold Digger cabins and the Corundum apartments. The cabins are full of the atmosphere of the gold rush and bring the gold miners’ accommodation to mind. The Corundum apartments are more modern. There are power outlets and camping spots for caravans and a sauna that you can book.
